Officials in Wake County, NC have “confirmed in writing” that they will revise policies and enforcement rules to allow the continued operation of gun stores during the ongoing COVID-19 panic, thus heading off a threatened legal action.
According to a statement from the Firearms Policy Coalition—one of the plaintiffs in a legal action against Wake County Sheriff Gerald M. Baker—they and the Second Amendment Foundation learned of the change Monday.
North Carolina Emergency Order No. 121 says “essential” businesses and workers covered under a new memorandum from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) include employees of gun manufacturers and retailers.
Meanwhile, SAF, FPC and Grass Roots North Carolina are seeking a restraining order against Sheriff Baker for what they allege are “recent unlawful and unconstitutional actions infringing on Second and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
