Thursday during a speech at the White House, President Biden announced several actions that he plans to take to curb “gun violence.”
At the same time, across America, legislatures pushed to expand Second Amendment rights and block future gun control.
We wrote Thursday that Arizona became a Second Amendment sanctuary. Since then, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has again called for Texas to join the Grand Canyon State. Legislators appear to be listening and advanced a strong sanctuary bill out of committee yesterday. It now awaits to be moved to the Senate Floor and be voted on.
Missouri legislators followed suit and moved their “Second Amendment Preservation Act” forward in the Senate. They also moved a bill to the Senate floor that would allow carrying a firearm on public transit.
In Tennesee, Governor Bill Lee signed permitless carry into law, bringing the total number of states that do not require a permit to carry a gun to 20.
Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon signed two bills into law Thursday. The first would prohibit financial institutions from discriminating against firearm businesses. The second expands permitless carry in the state to all who are not prohibited persons, regardless of whether they are residents of the state.
In Wisconsin, State Senator Mary Felzkowski announced that she intends on introducing a Second Amendment Sanctuary bill.
In Alabama, the legislature gave final approval to a bill that would make concealed carry permitting uniform across the state and offer a lifetime permit. The bill now awaits Governor Kay Ivy’s signature to become law.
And finally, West Virginia legislators sent a bill to the Governor’s desk that would prevent the state government from restricting the sale, carrying, or use of firearms during a declared state of emergency.
