Shooters, hunters and outdoors people are invariably looking for some new product that will enhance their time in the wilds, a lot of new accessories are being introduced at the SHOT Show to cover lots of those bases.
From targets to backpacks, there are plenty of new products on the way, and here’s a look at some of them.
For the shooter, Birchwood Casey is introducing several new target accessories including the 2-in-1 Gong Target Hanger. It’s got a double-mounting option with a hardened steel hook on one side and a spring and bolt mount on the other. It mounts easily on 2×4 lumber and can be used with the new Gong Nested Stand as a base.
The company is also introducing four new portable metal target stands including the Universal Gong Nested Stand. This one works well with the Gong Target Hanger.
Another new entry is the Scissor Target Stand with what Birchwood Casey calls a “unique pivoting action” that allows it to be adjusted to most target sizes.
Also from B.C. is the Adjustable Width Base Steel Target. It holds two standard 1×2-inch pieces of lumber upright to attach targets. It has two legs and four stake holes, and it adjusts from 13 to 25 inches.
Don’t get caught in the dark, thanks to Browning’s new Ruckus USB Rechargeable Lantern. It’s got a powerful white LED and is made from polymer with a rubberized coating to keep it watertight. It’s li-ion battery can be recharged up to 500 times and it can be used to charge other USB devices, such as mobile phones.
The Kingpin Rechargeable Flashlight from Browning features 3,200 lumens of brightness and can light things up out to 600 yards. It uses three standard C-cell batteries as an alternate power source and features an aluminum ribbed body and tough polycarbonate lens.
Another Browning entry is the Skyway USB Rechargeable Flashlight with a 2,200 lumen white LED. It offers three light settings and features a 26650 li-ion battery with built-in USB charging port.
And, for people wanting a compact model, Browning offers the Track USB Rechargeable Flashlight/Cap Light. It offers 121 lumens of brightness and has an effective reach of 70 yards. It can be used in two modes and has an li-ion battery rated for 300 charging cycles.
Coast has announced the HP10R rechargeable LED flashlight with 1,050 lumens of brightness. This flashlight boasts the ‘Pure Beam Optic” with ultra-wide flood and Bulls-Eye Spot modes, and features a Pro-Tek charging port with a micro USB port.
Another entry from Coast is the FL85R headlamp. Capable of delivering up to 700 lumens of light, this rechargeable headlamp is lightweight and also features the Pro-Tek charging port. There are two power options, either a lithium rechargeable battery pack or three standard AAA alkaline batteries. It’s got a hinged bezel so the light beam can be adjusted.
Whitetail deer hunters might warm right up to the Mystery Ranch Treehouse hanging gear quiver designed for tree stand hunters. This pack has two fiberglass rods and interior fabrication that allows the face panel to open to 45 degrees, allowing access while preventing the gear inside from falling out.
It’s made from 500D Cordura nylon with YKK zippers and has a top haul loop for hanging from a tree. There are two internal zippered pockets and three internal sleeves, side pockets and a front stretch-woven stash pocket for gloves or other gear.
Hornady is getting into the firearms security market with the RAPiD Safe and RAPiD Vehicle Safe. The RAPiD Safe is for home use, and it has space for two full-size pistols such as the Model 1911. It is made from 14-gauge steel with two internal hardened locking lugs, and it has RFID technology to allow quick access.
The RAPiD Vehicle Safe contains a handgun and operates off the power of an automobile’s 12-volt battery via an adapter, or four AAA batteries. This unit comes with the car adapter, an RFID wristband, two RFID stickers, an RFID key fob, two circular barrel keys and a security cable. An inflatable bladder allows this safe to conform to a vehicle’s interior shape.
Pachmayr will introduce several accessories, including GuardianGrip replacement grips for the Ruger LCR and Smith & Wesson J-frame revolvers. A press of a button quickly extends this grip with a hidden section that comes out of the butt to allow for a three-finger hold.
Another entry is the aluminum speed loader with a polygon shape. Cartridges are released with a twist of the knob. They are available for S&W J-frames, Ruger LCR and SP101, and several Taurus and Rossi revolver models.
There’s also a Pac-Mag gun storage magnet that holds handguns, rifles or shotguns, and it can hold guns under tables or desks, night stands or dashboards.
Also from Pachmayr are grip extenders for assorted Sig, S&W, Glock and Springfield semi-autos , and a tactical Grip Glove for the Sig P230 compact.
