There’s nothing like zeroing in on big game or even small game at a distance, through a good rifle scope or pair of quality binoculars.
This year will find some new optics entries from many of the top names in the industry.
Watch for some “new and improved” Grand Slam models from Weaver, which has earned a reputation among outdoorsmen and women for performance.
Simmons is unveiling a new riflescope in the Predator/Varmint series. It will pair up with rifles chambered for the .223 Remington, and it’s built on a 30mm tube.
Leupold has a new rangefinder that will measure ranges out to 1,200 yards and provide ranges on live game out to 800 yards. There’s also a new rifle scope built on a 30mm tube, and another model said to be designed specifically for Scout-type rifles.
New from Burris is a riflescope family for precision shooting. There are several new design features including a new reticle, and most of these scopes have big 50mm objective lenses, which are known for light-gathering capabilities.
Fans of Steiner optics won’t be disappointed because there’s a new series of tactical riflescopes on the way, including one with a 56mm objective lens. Of particular interest will be the size of the main tubes: 30mm and 34mm. All the optics have anti-reflection coatings and user-friendly controls.
The folks at Bushnell have a new series of Elite 3500 and 4500 riflescopes. There will be several models with features one has come to expect from Bushnell. In addition, there’s a new scope that can be paired with rifles chambered for the .17 Winchester Super Mag cartridge.
Swarovski Optik’s new STR80 spotting scope will accept Swarovski’s current eyepieces, the 20-60X and the 25-50xW wide angle. It has 10 daytime brightness levels and five night levels and a reticle that gets larger or smaller with the object in view through the magnification adjustments. Swarovski designed the STR 80 with an HD optical system. The lenses feature Swarovski’s specialty coatings, Swarodur, Swarotop and Swaroclean.
