Savage Arms has announced it is chambering several rifles for the Hornady .300 PRC cartridge for long-range shooting.
According to a Savage news release, “When the Department of Defense began looking for a long-range sniper round that produced consistent results with lighter recoil and less muzzle flash, Hornady’s 300 PRC quickly rose to the top.”
“While 300 PRC is capable of exceptional accuracy,” the Savage release noted, “the round is not simply a paper-puncher. The true potential of the 300 PRC comes from the intentional pairing of heavy .30 caliber bullets with non-belted cases and temperature-stable powders. The 300 PRC’s projectiles achieve repeatable accuracy thanks to their high ballistic coefficients. The 30-degree shoulder of the case provides stable chamber alignment, while the non-belted cases stack efficiently and feed reliably from magazines. The combination allows for fast follow-up shots.”
Savage also noted, “When these attributes are combined with Savage’s thread-in headspacing, floating bolt head, and button rifled barrels, the 300 PRC achieves astounding accuracy. With the stability of AccuStock and the precision of Savage’s AccuTrigger, the round’s potential is fully realized.”
The company mentioned four different rifle models in its announcement. They are the Model 110 Long Range Hunter, the 110 Precision, the Elite Precision and the 110 HS Precision.
Rifles feature button-rifled barrels, one-piece 20 MOA rail, a serrated lock nut, user-adjustable AccuTrigger and detachable magazine.
