A new Rasmussen survey released this week shows 50 percent of likely voters “Voters personally feel less safe than they did four years ago, while just 20% say they feel more safe.”
Translation: With Joe Biden in the White House, things just aren’t the same in terms of public safety.
Rasmussen conducted the survey of 1,092likely voters May 15-16 with a sampling error of +/- 3 percentage points and a 95% level of confidence, the veteran polling firm said.
With the president locked in a race for the Nov. 5 win against former President Donald Trump, polls like this will cause angst in the Biden camp.
According to Rasmussen, 29 percent say their personal safety is about the same as it was when Trump was in office four years ago.
The survey revealed that 70 percent of Republicans, 52 percent of Independents and 29 percent of Democrats “say they personally feel less safe than they did four years ago.” A whopping 85 percent of Republicans think Trump will make America a safer place to live, while 45 percent of Independents agree, but only 19 percent of Democrats concur.
“Among those who say they feel more safe than they did four years ago,” Rasmussen noted, “83% think Biden will make America a safer place to live.” This comes out to 71 percent of Democrats,35 percent of Independents and only 11 percent of Republicans saying Biden will make the country safer.
The Rasmussen survey found no “gender gap” in its results, with 49 percent of men and 50 percent of women voters saying they feel less safe than four years ago, and 54 percent of men along with 45 percent of women voters believe Trump will make the country “a better place to live.”
The national; election is just over five months away. Republicans will hold their national convention in July and Democrats will gather in August.
This may partly explain continued steady firearms sales, and an uptick in the number of concealed pistol licenses issued during the month of April in Washington state. The state Department of Licensing reported earlier this month that April saw a spike of 4,214 active CPLs, bringing then state total to 695,321 licensed citizens.
Rasmussen’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows 41 percent of likely voters approve of Biden’s job performance while 57 percent disapprove. Breaking the numbers down, only 22 percent “strongly approve” of Biden’s performance while 45 percent “strongly disapprove.” This leaves the president with a negative Presidential Approval Index of -23 percent.
