New Browning: BXR big game ammunition
In time for this fall’s deer hunt comes Browning’s new BXR ammunition, created specifically for deer and other big game, including elk, moose and bear.
It features a bonded bullet with what Browning calls the BXC Controlled Expansion Terminal Tip, made from aluminum. This projectile is designed for deep penetration and maximum downrange velocity and terminal performance.
This new ammunition is available in six calibers including .270 Winchester/145-grain, .308 Winchester/168-grain, .30-06 Springfield/185-grain; 7mm Remington Magnum/155-grain, .300 Winchester Magnum and .300 WSM, both with 185-grain bullets.
New Bushnell long range scope
Some of the best hunting occurs under the worst light conditions, so Bushnell has introduced the new LRHSi 4.5-18x44mm riflescope with an illuminated reticle.
According to Bushnell, this new model is built specifically to provide “unparalleled accuracy” to long range hunters. Built on a 30mm tube, it has fully multi-coated optics with Ultra Wide Band anti-reflection lens treatments and a capped windage turret.
The scope boasts a first focal plane G2H-I mil-based illuminated reticle that allows ranging at any magnification. It offers .1 mil click adjustments and a low-profile target style elevation turret with RevLimiter zero stop. This lets a hunter return to zero without dialing past.
Another feature of the LRHSi is a fast-focus eyepiece and side-parallax adjustment for a sharp image. The scope is offered with RainGuard HD lens coatings to bead water for an improved image under damp conditions.
Bushnell purges this scope with Argon for waterproof integrity.
Winchester announces new calibers in Deer Season XP line
Winchester Ammunition has added three new caliber choices to the popular Deer Season XP ammunition family for 2016.
Introduced in 2015, this ammunition line features a larger bullet tip for better knockdown efficiency. The bullet begins to expand immediately upon impact, and it offers improved ballistics thanks to the Extreme Point polymer tip. This projectile has a tapered bullet jacket and precision swaged lead core.
This year Winchester is adding a new 150-grain load in .30-30 Winchester, a 140-grainer in 7mm-08 and a 150-grain pill in .300 Blackout. Previously introduced were: a 95-grain .243 Win; a 130-grain .270 Win. a 140-grain 7mm Rem. Mag.; 150-graining .308 Win.; a 150-graini .30-06 Springfield; a 150-grain .300 Win. Mag, and a 150-grain .300 WSM.
