Marlin has announced two new lever-action rifles, one in .44 Magnum and the other in .30-30 Winchester, and both models should enjoy quick popularity.
For openers, the SBL Series Model 1894 is done in stainless steel, with a handsome gray laminate stock fitted with a thick recoil pad. Chambered in .44 Magnum/.44 Special, it has an 8/9-round capacity, 16.1-inch cold hammer-forged barrel made from 410 stainless steel and topped with a fiber optic front sight with a Tritium ring. The rear sight is an adjustable Ghost Ring model, and the barrel is threaded for attachments. The rifle is also fitted with a Picatinny rail.
The barrel is cut with six lands and grooves on a 1:20 right-hand twist.
Weighing 6.3 pounds (empty), the SBL Model 1894 has a polished stainless finish. It is fitted with a loop lever to accommodate gloved hands, while the forend is slim for a firm grasp. There’s a cross-bolt safety.

The Dark Series Model 336 boasts a nylon-reinforced polymer stock with M-LOK attachment slots, flush cup sockets for QD sling swivels, and a cheek riser for optimum sight picture when the rifle has a mounted scope.
Chambered in .30-30, this levergun has a 16.17-inch cold hammer-forged barrel crafted from alloy steel with a Graphite Black Cerakote finish and the bolt and lever have a nitride finish. It is cut with six lands and grooves on a 1:11-inch right hand twist. There is a factory-installed muzzle brake. The barrel is fitted with a fiber optic front sight with Tritium ring, and the rear sight is an adjustable Ghost Ring. There is also a Picatinny rail for mounting accessories. It weighs 6.9 pounds.
The tubular magazine holds five cartridges.
