New ammunition options for handgunners and waterfowl hunters have been announced by Federal, CCI, Speer and HEVI-Shot offerings, and they will make their official debut during the Jan. 17-20 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas.
New from Federal are handgun loads in 9mm, .40 S&W, .30 Super Carry and 10mm Auto. According to a company news release, “These new additions include new offerings in Federal’s Train + Protect, Punch, and Gold Medal product lines.”
“New Gold Medal Action Pistol loads—available in 9mm Luger and .40 S&W—offers even better accuracy and consistency than original Gold Medal,” Federal says, “and it’s loaded to power-factor requirements. The fully encapsulated FMJ bullet and Catalyst lead-free primer deliver cleaner shooting.”
In addition, the new Train + Protect 10mm load is a full-power entry with a VHP bullet.

Next, Speer and CCI are unveiling new ammunition as well. The entries are Speer’s Gold Dot Carbine and CCI’s Clean-22 Hyper Velocity ammunition, a press announcement revealed. Gold Dot Carbine produces what the company considers “ideal velocities” through carbine-length barrels and cycles flawlessly. The G2-style, elastomer-filled bullet nose is tuned to produce extremely effective penetration and expansion. Available in one 135-grain 9mm Luger load.

New from HEVI-Shot are waterfowl loads covering all the bases. There are new offerings in HEVI-Shot’s HEVI-XII, HEVI-Metal Xtreme, HEVI-Bismuth Waterfowl, and HEVI-Hammer Waterfowl.
Company literature says HEVI-Shot’s all-new HEVI-Metal Xtreme load feature a layer of HEVI-Shot’s original 12 g/cc HEVI-XII tungsten pellets (30 percent) stacked over steel pellets (70 percent) in the same shell. The dense tungsten pellets are three shot sizes smaller than steel pellets to ensure both layers have equal downrange performance. The load features the FLITECONTROL FLEX wad—sourced from HEVI-Shot’s sister brand Federal Ammunition—for consistent long-range patterns and is set to blistering velocities. These new loads are available in four 12- and 20-gauge.
HEVI-Bismuth Waterfowl loads are safe for both modern and classic waterfowl shotguns. Its 9.6 g/cc pellets allow shooters to drop a shot size compared to steel. There are offerings from .410 bore to 10 gauge, including two new 28-gauge loads.
HEVI-Hammer Waterfowl loads consist of layered bismuth pellets (15 percent of the payload) over steel pellets. This gives hunters more range with added density, tighter patterns, and improved shot strings.
