New Browning ProSteel Pistol Vaults for 2015
First in the spotlight, Browning has added two new pistol vaults to its ProSteel line, the Pistol Vault 500 and Pistol Vault 1000, for those who want compact, secure storage for their handguns. The Browning ProSteel Pistol Vaults are built from 10 gauge steel — twice the thickness of most pistol vaults offered on the market — and include safe-like security measures for superior protection from break in, including a recessed lid held tightly by a pair of tough ½” diameter locking bolts, electronic four-button touch pad controls entry, powered by eight AA batteries, and a unique four-sided key that opens the lid in the event the entry code is forgotten or the batteries fail.
The pistol vaults also include external electrical contacts for use with a common 9V battery that powers the touch pad (9V back-up battery not included). In addition, bright LED lighting illuminates the interior which has a pick-and-pluck foam insert that is easily customized to fit firearms and other valuables.
The ProSteel Pistol Vault 1000 with a suggested retail of $219 will hold up to four pistols; the Pistol Vault 500, which measures 4½” high x 14½” wide x 11” deep and weights 21 lbs. has a suggested retail of $199. For more information, visit browning.com, or phone 801-876-2711.

Ruger introduces SP101 in .327 Federal Magnum
Sturm, Ruger has added a .327 Federal Magnum chambering to their SP101 line. The new handgun is a six-round, small frame, double-action revolver with a 4.2 inch barrel and adjustable sights. Built from stainless steel, this new model features a light-gathering fiber optic front sight, a rear sight adjustable for both windage and elevation, and a rubber grip with checkered hardwood inserts. Overall length is 9.12 inches.
“The SP101 has a reputation for being a very strong and reliable revolver and combining it with the powerful .327 Federal Magnum cartridge creates a perfect ‘kit gun’ package,” said Chris Killoy, Ruger president and COO. “The compact size of the SP101 makes it the ideal companion while in the woods or afield, and the longer barrel helps the .327 Federal Magnum cartridge reach its velocity potential,” he concluded.
The 29.5-ounce, SP101 can be fired in either a double-action or single-action mode, and includes Ruger’s triple locking cylinder that locks the cylinder from the front, rear and bottom for reliability and durability. The rubber grip assures positive control while reducing recoil, and the Ruger transfer bar mechanism provides a measure of security against accidental discharge. Suggested retail is $719.
