Marlin has announced a new chambering in the Model 1894 Trapper lever-action carbine: .44 Magnum
Now shipping with “limited availability” according to the Marlin website, the new Trapper model is crafted from stainless steel with a black laminate buttstock and forend. It has a 16.1-inch cold hammer-forged threaded barrel, and the tubular magazine will hold eight .44 Magnum cartridges or nine .44 Specials.
Manufactured in the U.S., the Marlin Trapper boasts Skinner sights, a loop lever, soft rubber buttpad, slim forend, checkering on the stock and forend, sling swivel studs, an offset hammer spur when the rifle is fitted with a scope, and a cross-bolt manual safety along with traditional half-cock hammer. The Trapper model weighs 6.3 pounds empty, and has a 13.38-inch length of pull. The barrel is cut with six lands and grooves on a 1:20-inch right-hand twist and the receiver is machined from 416 stainless steel. The barrel is made from 410 stainless. It has an MSRP of $1,499
