In working to help retailers deal with technological advances, United Sporting Companies (USC) has partnered with Celerant Technology.
In mid-July, Celerant Technology, a leading provider of innovative retail solutions for both small and enterprise firearm retailers, announced its partnership with United Sporting Companies (USC), a leading distributor of hunting, shooting and marine sports products.
The two companies have been working together for some time to launch this new integration, enabling firearm dealers to more effectively operate their businesses by eliminating manual product entry and order replenishment. This partnership allows dealers to focus on selling product to their customers while Celerant and USC work behind the scenes to expand Customer Link Exchange (CLX) even further and allow for a seamless transition.
Offering retail software solutions to both the mom-and-pop gun shops and the more advanced firearm enterprises, Celerant’s new integration to USC is offered in both of their retail systems. The Cumulus Retail platform, designed for the smaller dealers, and the Stratus Retail platform, designed for the larger merchants, allow dealers to import product catalogs and automate purchase orders from all of the United Sporting Companies brands, including Ellett Brothers, Jerry’s Sport Center and USC’s newest wholesaler addition, AcuSport. The Celerant team has supported the AcuSport CLX base for several years, providing the full integration which United Sporting Companies is eager to continue and expand upon.
“United Sporting Companies is committed to providing continued support to existing CLX dealers as well as offering the opportunity of becoming a CLX dealer to many others as this is an advanced and dynamic platform that will continue to move our industry forward. We are excited to partner with Celerant in this process because we know our dealers will benefit from the convenience of CLX to seamlessly replenish their stock and allow them more time to service their customers.” said Brad Johnson, CEO and chairman of United Sporting Companies
Firearm dealers using either Celerant retail system can reduce manual entry, save time, minimize errors and replenish inventory “just in time” as a result of this integration. After simply browsing USC’s online catalogs, dealers can select which products they want to sell, easily import them into their Celerant POS database, pre-set their required minimum and maximum inventory levels within the system, and enable automated purchase orders based on those inventory thresholds. United Sporting Companies then sends electronic acknowledgements back to the dealer’s Celerant system, as well as advanced ship notices, providing full visibility to the dealer.
“Our goal is to bring innovation to the firearms space and help dealers operate their businesses more efficiently through technology. Our partnership with United Sporting Companies enables us to streamline the ordering process for the dealers and simplify their processes,” stated Celerant Technology’s CEO and President Ian Goldman. “We partnered with AcuSport a few years ago and automated the replenishment process for over 50 dealers and were on track for many more to come. We are pleased to have the opportunity to continue to support these dealers, as well bring this innovation to the Ellet Brothers and Jerry’s Sport Center buyers.”

POF-USA wins again
Patriot Ordnance Factory is taking home the Rifle of the Year award from the 2018 Firearms Industry Choice Awards for a second year running. POF USA was honored to attend and thanks everyone involved in the awards process, as well as congratulating the other winners.
The Renegade + is a departure from the original vision of Patriot Ordnance Factory, which is known for being a pioneer in the piston MSR category of rifles, and for still having the most reliable and feature-packed piston driven MSR on the market. Historically, there was much debate on whether or not POF-USA would or should even enter the Direct Impingement market. However, Frank has never been one to back down from a challenge, and in true POF-USA style, the Renegade+ took form.
Built on the unique and fully ambidextrous Gen 4 lower, featuring multiple upgrades and produced with 100% American sourced raw materials and innovation, the winning Renegade + and Renegade + SPR with its 18.5” stainless barrel are clearly several steps ahead of the majority of the MSR market. The upper receiver is built around the unique heat sink barrel nut, the 9 position adjustable Dictator gas block, a match-grade accurate 18.5” .223 Wylde barrel, and features the company’s Renegade M-Lok rail with 4 QD sling mount points.
NRA Tactical sponsor
Kahr Firearms Group, a leader in innovative firearms design and manufacturing, recent announced the company’s sponsorship of the National Rifle Association’s Tactical Police Competitions held July 20-21 in Concord, NH.
The Tactical Police Competition (TPC) is a program designed to challenge officers through courses of competition that focus on skills with duty firearms and gear. The TPC is only open to law enforcement and military and utilizes only patrol duty firearms and equipment. The program gives officers an opportunity to practice and sharpen skills in handling and deploying their duty firearm, as well as solving hypothetical challenges through scenario-based training courses.
The NRA’s TPC matches include four to seven courses which utilize a pistol, rifle or shotgun, or a combination. The courses challenge officers to sharpen and evaluate their skills with their duty weapon as well as their ability to make tactical decisions and assess threats and environment. TPC matches are live-fire training competitions and give valuable opportunities and experience to participants. The TPC program holds matches around the country. Texas goes Sig
In June, Sig Sauer announced that the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) has integrated the Sig Sauer P320 as its official service firearm throughout its divisions.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is the statewide agency responsible for law enforcement and vehicle registration headquartered in Austin. The TXDPS is one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the country and is comprised of thirteen divisions including the Texas Highway Patrol, and the Texas Rangers.
“We are proud to continue our long-standing relationship with the Texas Department of Public Safety and honored that they have chosen the SIG SAUER P320 as their official service firearm,” began Tom Jankiewicz, executive vice president, Law Enforcement Sales at Sig. “The modularity and ability to customize the P320 pistol, combined with the ultimate in reliability and accuracy, made it the right choice for the diverse needs, across all divisions, for the Texas Department of Safety.”
The P320 is a modular, striker-fired pistol available in full-size, carry, compact, and subcompact sizing. The serialized trigger group makes the P320 adaptable to multiple caliber, size, and grip options. The P320 is available in 9mm, .357SIG, 40S&W, and .45ACP, with a choice of contrast, or SIGLITE Night Sights. The intuitive 3-point takedown requires no trigger pull for disassembly, and safety features include a striker safety, disconnect safety, and optional manual safety.
The Texas Department of Public Safety will acquire 4,000 P320 pistols for official service use throughout the TXDPS Highway Patrol, Criminal Investigations Divisions (CID), Aircraft Division, Executive Protection Bureau, Intelligence and Counterterrorism, Texas Rangers, SWAT, and Special Operations Group.
Sub-compact weapon
Back in May, the US Army issued an RFI for a new Sub Compact Weapon. Naturally, speculation was rampant about which companies were in the running to get the contract, which would include magazines, cleaning kits, suppressors, spare parts, slings, carrying cases and manuals.
We now have a better idea, as the service just announced it intends on awarding a sole source contract to 10 different manufacturers for commercially available off-the-shelf Sub Compact Weapons.
Tactical-Life.com now says there’s a better idea, as the service just announced it intends on awarding a sole source contract to 10 different manufacturers for commercially available off-the-shelf Sub Compact Weapons.
The notice defines the Sub Compact Weapon as a “highly concealable” system that can engage threats with “a high volume of lethal and accurate fires at close range with minimal collateral damage.” In terms of specifics, we know the service is looking for a select-fire 9x19mm weapon with a MIL-STD-1913 rail.
The ten companies likely to get contracts for the Sub Compact Weapon are apparently Colt’s Manufacturing, Beretta, CMMG Inc., CZ-USA, Lewis Machine & Tool Company, PTR Industries, Quarter Circle, Sig Sauer, Trident Rifles and Zenith Firearms.
