On the heels of an interview with Fox News in which Vice President Kamala Harris repeatedly tried to filibuster her camera time away while anchor Brett Baier tried to ask questions, a new poll says 50 percent of likely voters think the establishment media is in the tank for Democrats.
Rasmussen is reporting that half of U.S. voters “believe most news media organizations are biased in favor of Democrats in terms of their political coverage, compared to just 28% who see the media as biased in favor of Republicans.
“Eighteen percent (18%) think most of the media are pretty much objective and neutral in their political coverage,” Rasmussen said.
According to Rasmussen, “Forty-nine percent (49%) agree that the media are “truly the enemy of the people,” as Trump said in 2019, including 29% who Strongly Agree. Forty percent (40%) disagree, including 26% who Strongly Disagree, while another 11% are not sure. In March, 60% agreed that the media are “truly the enemy of the people.”
The revelation comes as another Rasmussen survey released recently said 45 percent of likely voters plan to vote on election day in person, but 52 percent will be voting early. Of these early voters, “more than half (29%) say they will take advantage of early in-person voting, while 23% will vote by mail,” Rasmussen reported.
The veteran polling firm also found in its bias survey that 46 percent of likely voters think most major news organizations are trying to help Harris win the election next month. Only 22 percent think the media is helping Donald Trump.
“Among those who say they will vote for Trump,” Rasmussen revealed, “71% believe most news media organizations are biased in favor of Democrats in terms of their political coverage, and 52% Strongly Agree that the media are ‘truly the enemy of the people.’”
The bias belief was fleshed out even more as Rasmussen noted, “A majority (54%) of Republicans say most major news organizations are trying to help Harris win the election, as do 39% of Democrats and 45% of voters not affiliated with either major party.”
Rasmussen found 63 percent of Republicans, 39 percent of Democrats and 48 percent of Independent voters believe most news media organizations are biased in favor of Democrats when it comes to political coverage.
It did not help the media’s image when debate moderators insisted on fact-checking Trump during his debate with Harris, especially when, in the aftermath, some of the points raised by the moderators were found to be incorrect.
During her interview with Baier, Harris insisted she will not be a “continuation” of the Joe Biden presidency.
