Last week we wrote about Mark and Patricia McCloskey in “Self-defense is Under Attack.”
It left us wondering why a St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney would be targeting a couple in fear for their lives and property. And why was a prosecutor, who should be in favor of law, order and the police, letting rioters go free and arresting citizens defending themselves. The answer is money and politics.
We are finding out who Prosecutor Kim Gardner’s supporters really are. Gardner’s biggest donor in her 2016 race to become Circuit Attorney was a super PAC, Missouri Safety & Justice Committee, whose major contributor was non-other than George Soros, the liberal billionaire. He donated at least $190,750,73 in 2016.
The PAC was established in June of 2016 and was set up to elect Gardner. Now in 2020 this PAC is again supporting Gardner and in its Aug. 1 report it listed a July 29 contribution of $116,000.00 from Soros—the only money that has been donated to this PAC. The money was spent to pay in part for Polling strategies in the amount of $40,300.
The primary election is today, Aug. 4, and since St. Louis is a Democrat controlled city, the winner will become Prosecuting Attorney. Gardner is again running against another Attorney, Mary Pat Carl, who served in the Prosecuting Attorney’s office for 15 years. Gardner beat Carl in 2016.
Since our last report Gardner has not only publicly reacted to Missouri Attorney General Schmitt’s brief in the case, but made a motion to strike the Schmitt amicus brief.
Following Gardner’s motion, the McCloskeys attorney, Joel J. Schwartz, filed a motion on July 29 to disqualify Gardner and the Circuit Attorney’s office. According to the McCloskey motion Citizens to Elect Kimberly Gardner sent out an email solicitation to supporters on July 17, 2020, before Gardner’s decision to charge the McCloskeys, the email read:
You might be familiar with the story of the couple who brandished guns during a peaceful protest outside their mansion.
Instead of fighting for millions of Americans affected by the pandemic—including 31 thousand Missourians—President Trump and the Governor are fighting for the two who pointed guns at peaceful citizens during the Black Matter Lives protests.
Kim needs your help to fight back!
Three days later, July 20, Gardner charged the McCloskeys.
On July 22, 2020 Kim’s campaign, of which she is the Treasurer, sent another email:
In the last 24 hours, there has been a lot of national attention surrounding Kim’s decision to press charges against a couple that brandished guns at a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest.
The McCloskey motion to disqualify Garner then states, “The email (referring to the fundraising email sent by the Garner campaign) then states that because she decided to press charges against Defendant (McCloskeys)” …“that Gardner received death threats as well as criticism from Donald Trump, and the Governor, a senator, and the Attorney General of Missouri.”
Additionally the McCloskey motion explains how Section 56.110 of Missouri law can be applied in this case. Quoting from cases settled by the United States Supreme Court the motion alleges that “Ms. Gardner, via her campaign mailers, linked the criminal proceedings against Defendant to her financial, political and personal interest.”
The fact that Missouri Safety & Justice committee is a PAC for Gardner only, the timing of the latest donation to that PAC and the fact that she used the McCloskey case for fund raising certainly indicates it is all related. But this case has shown us that elections for positions that are usually decided by local matters, are of interest to those that want to fundamentally change this country.
According to lifezette.com “Far left billionaire George Soros has been systematically targeting district attorney races throughout the United States for several years now.” Kim Gardner is only one of Soros’ favorites. We now see what law and order as practiced by George Soros and other liberals looks like and it certainly does not support self-defense or private gun ownership.
