Cold Steel has introduced what it is calling “one of its toughest and boldest locking folder ever,” the new Mayhem.
The specifications alone are impressive:
- A 6-inch blade that can cut, slice, and slash its way through the biggest challenges
- A 13.3-inch open length offering a fistful of grip suitable for the burliest of hands
- A 13-ounce weight delivering unflinching heft for serious chopping tasks
- A 7.3-inch closed length, meaning you never need a “bump check” to know it’s there and ready
Boasting a durable AUS10A blade steel in satin finish, the Mayhem folder meets all the criteria for a do-it-all folding knife, Colt Steel says. The thick blade features aggressive, no-slip jimping across the spine for optimal control during precision cutting followed by a cleanly tapered false edge to assist penetration. The fully contoured belly presents a deliberate geometry that enhances slicing and slashing.
Expert control of the Mayhem comes through the ergonomically designed black G10 handle. The crescent profile augmented by deep finger grooves guarantees a positive grip when stabbing or making deep pull cuts.
Positioned between the handles is Cold Steel’s patent pending ATLAS locking system. This dual-pin and lockbar design blurs the line between fixed- and folding-blade knives with a strength surpassed only by the stoutest fixed blades and the smooth operational performance you expect from a premium folder. Opening assist comes courtesy of integrated thumb studs. The pocket clip is ambidextrous for left- or right-hand carry.
To launch the Mayhem folder, Cold steel is offering the knife in two models—the standard Mayhem previously described and the limited Mayhem Launch Edition, which comes with a S35VN blade, black/red G10 handle, and a limited-edition serial number.
