The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) will be accepting applications for $1,000 one-year exemplary student rifle and pistol athletic scholarships through March 20 for the 2016-2017 school year.
The scholarships are based on merit as well as rifle or pistol marksmanship participation to current high school seniors.
Last year, the CMP received 256 scholarships applications– setting another record as the most ever in the scholarship’s history. A total of 173 were awarded for $173,000 in support from the CMP Scholarship fund. Recipients hailed from JROTC schools, 4-H groups and other shooting clubs. Since 2005, CMP has awarded over $1 million in scholarship prizes.
The scholarships may be used to pursue post-secondary education or vocational programs for the upcoming school year.
