Cimarron Firearms, makers of quality replicas of Old West firearms, have been quietly filling a hole left wide open when manufacturers of traditional hunting calibers slowly rode off into the sunset.
Since 2020, Cimarron Firearms has partnered with Steinel Ammunition to deliver 45-60 Win. and 50-95 Win. ammunition to support customers and the many true-to-original replicas they design and produce, the company said in a news release.
“While the reloading community for traditional hunting and cowboy action rounds exists, it didn’t help our customers that wanted the experience of owning and hunting with one of our Tom Horn or Presidio lever action rifles,” Bryce Wayt, VP of Operations and Media for Cimmaron Firearms, explained. “It became obvious to us that we needed to provide that optimal experience, and that included providing commercially available ammunition to our customers.”
As American manufacturers rode the wave of self-defense ammunition demands, Cimarron started from ground zero. Sourcing the reloadable brass, bullets, and powder to produce the 45-60 and 50-95 calibers became a logistical obstacle course during the ammunition scarcity months. Perseverance and a determination to provide customers with the same high quality in their named ammunition as in their firearms drove Cimarron to test multiple loaders until finally settling on Steinel Ammunition to load Cimarron’s ammunition. Steinel Ammunition, a premium ammunition company, concentrates on historical, traditional, and hard-to-find ammunition calibers.
Cimarron Firearms currently offers Cimarron stamped .45-60 Win. in a 20-round box for $67.10. The 300 gr. RNFP-coated rounds have an FPS of 1,380. Cimarron’s .50-95 Win. Ammo is also offered in a 20-round box at $67.10. This 350 gr. RNFP round has an FPS of 1,300.
“We listen to our customers, and as a result, we have built a high-tech ammunition testing facility for our ongoing research and development of classic and new calibers,” Wayt concluded. For more information on Cimarron Firearms and accessories, visit www.cimarron-firearms.com.
