“It is important in our democracy that the voices of law-abiding firearms owners be heard, especially on Wednesday in Jefferson City,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan M. Gottlieb. “We encourage all those who are able to attend to save time for a visit to the offices of their state senators and representatives.”
Noting that the legislation in question has gotten plenty of attention in the national press, Gottlieb said the outcome of Wednesday’s action by the Legislature could have far-reaching implications. Despite legal challenges to similar laws in other states, he said it is important to send a message that the Second Amendment means what it says.
The New York Times called the Missouri legislation “the most far-reaching states’ rights endeavor in the country.”
“It’s no longer enough for politicians to say they ‘support’ the Second Amendment,” Gottlieb observed. “It is time for our elected representatives, wherever they may serve, to prove it.”
