An article published by The Federalist detailing six “possible” actions Joe Biden might take against gun owners almost immediately after he becomes president has gun owners infuriated.
According to firearms attorney and author Ryan Cleckner, these are the most likely measures Biden, a perennial anti-gunner for nearly 50 years in Washington, D.C.
Banning pistol braces
Banning homemade firearms/80 percent receivers
Banning online firearm and ammunition sales
Shortly after the first bans, and if he has the help of the Senate, the next gun control measures will likely be:
Banning “assault weapons”
Banning “high capacity” magazines
Requiring universal background checks
Critics are already noting that none of these would affect criminals because they don’t obey the law, anyway.
Cleckner offered details on each of his suggested possibilities noting, “Universal background checks place a government barrier around a fundamental right and will, in effect, create a national firearm registry in order for the government to enforce and verify current possession of a firearm.”
Capitol Hill gun prohibitionists will face considerable resistance if they attempt to pass any of these.
Alarmingly, fighting crime does not appear to be the purpose any behind Biden’s gun control scheme, critics are saying. Instead, everything in his gun control points to making it more difficult for average citizens to exercise a fundamental right that is enumerated in the constitution.
