APEX Ammunition is pleased to announce its Waterfowl TSS-S3 Steel Blend shotshells are now shipping.
These handcrafted “duplex” loads offer the best of both worlds, combining APEX’s premium, zinc-coated S3 Steel pellets with ultra-high density Tungsten Super Shot for a harder-hitting payload and improved terminal performance to reduce crippling, according to a company release.
“APEX TSS/S3 Steel Blend loads deliver the best of both worlds from a cost/performance standpoint, said Jason Lonsberry, President and CEO, APEX Ammunition. “TSS loads hit hardest but are the most expensive shotshell offering. The blend gives you a high-performance load at a more affordable price point and is ideal for hunts where shot distances are likely to vary due to the shot string advantages of these stacked loads. We load the TSS first, followed by the steel on top. This improves the pattern because the steel shot slows down first due to size and density differences, delivering a more advantageous pattern at closer distances, while the TSS begins to pass the steel shot at around 20 yards delivering significantly more kinetic energy at longer distances.”
These blended loads also use the same Tungsten-grade wad system found in APEX’s legendary Turkey TSS shotshells. The combination delivers lethal patterning, maximum barrel protection, and unmatched shot-to-shot consistency.
