Yet another member of Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun group Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) is caught up in serous legal trouble.
After being driven from office when several sexual harassment charges surfaced, disgraced former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner pleaded guilty Tuesday to a felony for allegedly putting a woman in a headlock, as well as lesser counts for kissing one unwilling woman and grabbing the buttocks of another.
In 2012 the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) launched the “Meet the Mayors” Gun Owners Against Illegal Mayors project highlighting the overwhelming hypocrisy and immoral character of the Mayors that comprise MAIG’s membership.
Since then the tally of MAIG’s members with felony charges and convictions barring them from possessing firearms under federal law has continued to rise.
MAIG itself hasn’t been a stranger to scandal. Bloomberg’s group honored one of the Boston bombing terrorists as a “victim of gun violence.” That same week MAIG got caught using New York City resources and personnel to host their website as well as lobby for gun control.
Bloomberg himself hasn’t been afraid to ruffle feathers and cause controversy. Some insisted that Bloomberg violated New York law in Summer of 2012 when he called on law enforcement to go on strike and demand stricter gun control laws as a condition of their return.
SAF plans doing a follow up with an updated tally featuring some more of MAIG’s latest and worst illegal mayors.
