Just as the 2025 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show was about to open in Las Vegas, Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. announced the recent release of Lipsey’s Exclusive J, L, and N-Frame Revolvers, and social media lit up with cheers from handgunners because of one important feature which isn’t there.
The internal locking system has been removed from the Lipsey’s models, which include two new versions of the popular Mountain Gun, one in .44 Magnum and the other in .357 Magnum.
Starting off with the ultimate lightweight, performance-focused defensive revolver, is the Model 632UC Ti. According to Smith & Wesson, this J-Frame is chambered in .32 H&R Mag, has a 6-round capacity, and features a lightweight titanium cylinder and aluminum alloy frame to reduce weight for maximum comfort when carrying. It is designed with a 1.88-inch barrel that includes a bright dot tritium front sight and a black u-notch rear sight which are regulated for use with commonly available ammunition.
The Model 632-UC Ti is built with an upgraded endurance package to improve both performance and durability, and its chamfered charge holes allow for easy loading. Two versions are available, in either a black or silver finish and come with a textured synthetic grip to allow for enhanced control and comfort when shooting.
The two remaining releases include the finely-crafted Model 686-Plus and Model 629 Mountain Guns. The L-Frame 686-Plus is an all stainless-steel constructed, 7-shot revolver, chambered in .357 Magnum/.38 Special +P. It includes a 4.13-inch barrel with a patridge-style brass bead front sight and adjustable rear sight for improved sight acquisition.
The second variant, the Model 629, is a 6-shot N-Frame chambered in .44 Magnum/.44 Special. Similar to the Model 686-Plus, it shares the same all-stainless-steel construction, a 4.13-inch barrel, brass bead front and adjustable rear sights, and a high-grade walnut Bear Hug grip from Tyler Gun Works.
