Stoeger is expanding its STR-9 pistol lineup with the all-new STR-9 Combat X, the company is adding different color options to the STR-9 series and there is also a new .45 ACP version dubbed the STR-45, all in conjunction with this week’s SHOT Show in Las Vegas.
The new STR-9 Combat X 9mm was developed to exceed international military standards and is configured to meet any mission requirement with a reliability factor that is unprecedented in the defensive pistol segment, the company said in a news release.
Based on Stoeger’s proven STR-9 polymer-frame striker-fired handgun series, the STR-9 Combat X stands apart with its own distinctive frame design, starting with a longer frame that extends to the front of the slide, incorporating a three-slot accessory rail for a light or laser, and an enhanced beaver tail above the grip that ensures a solid purchase and maximum stability for sustained firing. The front strap is straight with dual stippling patterns across the grip to offer optimal, no-slip traction whether shooting with bare hands or gloves. The backstrap is interchangeable so shooters can customize the grip to match hand size and glove use.
Ergonomics continue with an undercut trigger guard and an oversized mag well to facilitate fast magazine swaps. This is aided by an ambidextrous slide stop lever that stands proud of the frame to speed up mag drops without losing grip position. The pistol also includes an ambidextrous slide stop system for comfortable operation for both left- and right-hand shooters.
The STR-9 Combat X is validated for 10,000 rounds of continuous fire without failure. This exceptional defensive performance comes courtesy of precision-manufactured and robust trigger and slide internals combined with a newly designed barrel and black nitride-finished slide combination.
In keeping with its “ready for anything” mission, the STR-9 Combat X hosts an adjustable fiber-optic sight system. And in a nod to the growing demand for red dot compatibility, the STR-9 Combat X includes a slide cut with a cover plate and adapter plates to accommodate the most popular pistol red dots on the market today.
Available in 17+1 and 10+1 round capacity, the STR-9 Combat X is a mid-size 9mm that delivers everything you need in a modern defensive handgun backed by dependable, military-grade construction and performance.
Stoeger’s STR-45 is the company’s first full-size pistol chambered in .45 ACP. The new handgun is built on the same black polymer, striker-fired platform as the expansive Stoeger STR-9 series pistols but is designed to deliver up to 13+1 rounds of the hard-hitting .45 ACP, the company said.
The STR-45 hosts a nitride-hardened matte black slide featuring aggressive front and rear serrations to facilitate bare or gloved-hand slide manipulation and press checks. Drift-adjustable quick-read three-dot sights or available tritium night sights sit low on the slide to minimize height above the bore axis. In keeping with the trend toward red dot sights on carry pistols, the STR-45 comes optic-ready to accept a broad range of popular red dot footprints.
To enhance control and to promote quick sight realignment when shooting the powerful .45 ACP, the STR-45 offers a highly tractable grip design, with a straight front strap (no finger grooves), full stippling along the sides, a deep, high-cut beaver tail that lowers the bore axis relative to the firing hand, and interchangeable backstraps to ensure an optimal fit.
Designed for left- or right-hand shooters, the STR-45 features an ambidextrous slide stop and reversible magazine release button. A high-cut trigger guard, integrated thumb shelf, and stippling patches for finger indexing round out the ergonomic enhancements. The frame also includes a three-slot rail system for mounting a light or laser.
The STR-45 comes in four model configurations: 10+1 and 13+1 capacity with either quick-read 3-dot or tritium night sights. All models are optic-ready.
Meanwhile, Stoeger announced that black is not the only option when it comes to the company’s popular STR-9 standard-size 9mm pistols. Stoeger is making the STR-9 available in four new color configurations including OD Green Cerakote, FDE Cerakote, and Tungsten Cerakote…all with contrasting black accents via the backstrap, magazine floor plate, barrel, and controls. There is also an FDE/black Distressed Cerakote option.
In addition to the new color options, the STR-9 in Cerakote Tungsten comes with Meprolight’s Hyperbright sight system. All other models include Stoeger’s quick-read three-dot sights.
