The Second Amendment Foundation is set to launch its 20th week of national advertising so far in 2023, as part of its “ongoing campaign to alert American gun owners about the threat Joe Biden’s administration poses to their gun rights.”
According to SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb, the organization’s 60-second message will be running on 17 national networks over the next week. He estimated the spot has been seen more than 1,600 times so far, and has reached “tens of millions of viewers.”
Considering the networks where the SAF message has appeared, and will continue appearing, that estimate is probably accurate. Over the next week, SAF’s message will appear a total of 112 times spread across the following networks: Fox News, Fox Business, the Weather Channel, HLN, CNBC, BBC America, Bloomberg, OANN, the History Channel, TBN, American Heroes Channel, the Outdoor Channel, World Fishing Channel, Game Show Network and RFD-TV.
“We’re reaching more Americans with our pro-gun rights informational message campaign than all the other groups combined,” Gottlieb stated, “despite not being funded by billionaires like our opponents are.”
He was alluding to wealthy including Michael Bloomberg and Bill Gates, who have supported the gun prohibition lobby.
“SAF is becoming widely known for winning firearms freedom, one lawsuit at a time,” he said. “We’re also known as the only group using national TV messaging to educate American citizens about their Second Amendment rights.”
The foundation has grown in size and stature over the past decade, beginning with its landmark Supreme Court victory in McDonald v. City of Chicago in June 2010, which not only nullified the Chicago handgun ban but more importantly incorporated the Second Amendment to the states via the 14th Amendment.
Today, he said, “SAF has more than 720,000 members and supporters nationwide and it is their continuing support that has kept us on the air all these months. Our message is resonating with a growing number of people, who hear Joe Biden admit in his own words he not only wants to ban semiautomatic rifles, but also 9mm pistols, the most popular firearm in America for personal protection.
“Joe Biden’s agenda isn’t about protecting the public,” Gottlieb said. “It’s about disarming the public and leaving honest citizens increasingly vulnerable to violent criminals who continue to plunder our cities and neighborhoods because of the administration’s soft-on-crime philosophy.”
