Writing at Fox News, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who represented Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, declared, “Vote as if America depends on it – because it does.”
“Jan. 5 is the most consequential runoff election in American history,” the former House Speaker stated in an Op-Ed Monday morning. “If Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler win, the Republican majority in the Senate will be empowered to moderate the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration. It will be able to stop virtually every radical appointment to government and proposal for legislation.”
If they are defeated by Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, all bets are off, Gingrich intimated. If Warnock and Ossoff win, “then Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., will be able, with the help of Vice President Harris (who will serve as president of the Senate), to push through radical appointments and legislation,” Gingrich wrote.
Translation: Joe Biden’s extremist gun control agenda will likely become law. That includes a one-gun-per-month purchase restriction, a ban on production of semi-auto modern sporting rifles—the so-called “assault rifles” Biden says nobody needs—original capacity magazines for rifles and pistols, licensing before anyone can purchase a firearm, and further regulation.
In a separate Fox story, Georgia Congressman Doug Collins warned that staying home and not voting is not an option for Republican voters. Such non-voters would only help the Democrat challengers, he insisted.
“Georgia understands what’s at stake here,” he added during a Fox interview. “You have Jon Ossoff, who’s a trust-fund socialist. You have Raphael Warnock, who is a pastor who believes that abortion is OK. There’s just things that are really contradictory to conservative lifestyle in Georgia.”
Even a thin Republican majority in the Senate can roadblock extremist legislation. Gun rights, taxes, abortion, the makeup of the U.S. Supreme Court; everything is at stake.
In the midst of this volatile political climate, President Donald Trump is being roasted by headlines following the leak of a phone call he made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in which he allegedly asked Raffensperger to do a recount and find thousands of votes in his favor. A headline at the formerly conservative Drudge Report asks, “Commander in Thief?”
But a report at Newsmax.com insists a Washington Post story saying Trump “repeatedly urged him to alter the outcome of the presidential vote in the state” is false. In an effort to defend their argument, Newsmax has published what it calls “several key excerpts” from the telephone conversation.
One America News Network is also reporting on the telephone call flap, explaining the president was simply trying to push Raffensperger to “reexamine” the Nov. 3 election results.
Whether any of this will change the outcome of Tuesday’s election remains to be seen.
No speculation is necessary, however, if Democrats gain complete control of Capitol Hill and the White House. American gun owners, especially, stand to lose the most, making the special runoff election exactly what Gingrich says; the most consequential runoff in American election history.
