If you are a gun owner who lives in Georgia, your vote counts much more than ever.
If you are a gun owner who lives in the other 49 states, territories and the District of Columbia, your help in the form of donations is needed more than ever.
Already the major anti-gun organizations are endorsing both Democrats in the Senate runoff elections. Giffords.org, the website for the anti-gun organization run by former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords (D-AZ), has a picture of both Democrat candidates, Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff under the title FLIPPING THE SENATE. This is what they say:
To pass lifesaving gun laws like universal background checks, we need to elect gun safety champions to the Senate. That’s why we’re proud to endorse Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in Georgia’s upcoming runoff elections. Help Giffords keep the fight going and support candidates who want to build a safer America.
And don’t forget the new Democrat Senator from Arizona, Mark Kelley, Gabby Giffords’ husband, is an avowed anti-gun proponent.
The Brady Campaign, the political arm of the Brady Center, has also endorsed both Democrat candidates in the Georgia runoff elections. On Aug. 31, they sent out a press release endorsing Jon Ossoff. Ossoff’s website tries do the usual anti-gun politician’s double speak. He supports the Second Amendment, BUT Ossoff strongly supports:
I support universal criminal history checks for gun purchases, red flag laws to protect family members and domestic partners concerned about the mental health of their loved ones, and closing the gun show loophole.
I support a ban on the sale of semi-automatic rifles (“assault weapons”) and high-capacity magazines to the general public.
On Nov. 17, the Brady Campaign endorsed Raphael Warnock.
“Rev. Raphael Warnock has proven that he will be a courageous leader in the Senate, and a steadfast champion for public safety. From his passionate calls for federal gun safety legislation, like universal background checks, to his local efforts to reduce violence in Atlanta, Rev. Warnock has long fought to protect marginalized communities alongside the leaders and organizers in those communities. His work advocating for common-sense public safety measures, and his faith in a safer America, will make him a great senator from Georgia. Brady is proud to endorse Rev. Raphael Warnock for election to the U.S. Senate.”
And Warnock responded:
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Brady Campaign and look forward to working with Brady in the 117th Congress to pass common sense gun safety legislation.
Giffords.org latest email states, “We are already beginning to develop our strategy for how we can work with the incoming Administration to make gun safety a primary issue in 2021.” They will need both houses of Congress to pass legislation and if the Democrats get two more Senate seats, it will be tied and the Vice President gets to break the tie.
So there you have it! With the Democrats having the majority in the U.S. Senate gun legislation will fly through the 117th Congress that starts on Jan. 3, 2021, two days before the Georgia election happens. Jan. 5, 2021 in Georgia is a very important date for gun owners.
