There’s always something new for hunters and shooters in the optics arena with the arrival of a new year, and that’s certainly the case for 2018.
For example, Bushnell has announced a new Elite Tactical XRS II riflescope that has several features long range precision shooters will appreciate. It’s a 4.5-30x50mm model with the capability of acquiring targets out to 1,000 yards with edge-to-edge image clarity.
It features ED Prime glass with a patented EXO lens coating to protect from moisture, fog, dust and debris. Bushnell designed this scope with a G3 reticle, but it is also available with either a Horus H59 or TRMR3 reticle. There is a removable Throw Lever for rapid magnification changes, and the scope also has a locking diopter.
The new Elite Tactical XRS II is available in gray, black or flat dark earth finishes.
Swarovski Optik is unveiling the new BTX that combines the features and benefits of a spotting scope and binocular. It’s got dual eyepieces, like a binocular, but a single objective, like a spotting scope.
The BTX is available with either a 65mm, 85mm or 95mm objective module, and it can be fitted with an optional tripod head that allows mounting for long viewing sessions. It has an adjustable forehead rest, and it is angled for comfort. Magnification can be quickly changed from 30x or 35x to 50x or 60x by using Swarovski’s optional ME 1.7x magnification extender.

As targets increase in distance, the intelligent FC-MIL™ or FC-MOA™ first focal plane reticle options provide precise hold points. For those preferring to dial for long shots, the turrets feature Nightforce ZeroStop® elevation-adjustable technology with windage limiter, allowing for a rapid return to absolute zero regardless of any previous elevation adjustments. Adjustments are a true .2 Mil-Radian or .50 MOA. And, to aid in fast magnification adjustments, the Power Throw Lever (PTL) is included.
