Poses questions for ACLU
on ‘fair’ and ‘reasonable’
Dear Editor:
Re: the TGM April story about President Trump signing the legislation revoking the Obama order on putting some elderly people’s names in the NICS database.
In the report, there is reference to a supporting op-ed column in USA Today by two staffers of the American Civil Liberties Union.
Perhaps the TGM news report was unclear or not a complete quote. In supporting the Trump action, they stated that the ACLU did not oppose gun control, but had opposed the Obama order because it was neither “fair” nor reasonable.
But when Vania Leveille and Susan Mizner commented, they offered among other things that The Second Amendment allows “reasonable restrictions to promote publicly safety” to which I took exception. They also say, amazingly, that “gun laws should be fair, effective and not based on prejudice or stereotype”, which they often are. By the way, as to “fair,” also a mentioned requirement, fair to whom and how is “fair” defined by the ladies?
Getting back to the chase, there is reference to “reasonable restrictions,” “reasonable” as usual being undefined—one can only wonder why. I also wonder to when, if ever these ladies and like-minded others will speak in plain English, for instance telling interested parties exactly how “reasonable,” as in reasonable restrictions are defined.
At least they seemed to have opposed the Obama order regarding seniors who need help with their finances.

Among gun magazines
Dear Editor:
I must compliment you on the content and design of TheGunMag.com print edition.
I’ve read a lot of gun magazines over the years, and subscribed to many of them.
However, I have been narrowing down my list of gun titles in favor of your publication, which I think delivers more usable and worthwhile information. It is the best monthly source of legislative and judicial information, plus it tells me what’s going on in the industry and delivers the most practical kind of new product information. All is a useful format.
I don’t miss the other monthlies. But keep up the good work.
