Just when you might have thought that anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg and his lackeys might have learned a lesson with the defeats they suffered after a very big investment last November you have to think again.
Losing some political races and some initiatives as well as the big loss in the presidential race has apparently not dampened the resolve of the former New York City mayor.
Politico.com recently reported that “the gun control group founded by billionaire former Mayor Michael Bloomberg is poised to spend $25 million to fight concealed carry legislation being touted by Republicans and pro-gun lobbyists.”.
With its eye on the 2018 midterms, Everytown for Gun Safety is adding staff and bracing to challenge the national concealed carry reciprocity legislation that is currently before Congress.
Though not on the front burner for Republicans, the political website offered, separate reciprocity bills are being worked in the House and Senate. The is poised to spend $25 million to fight concealed carry legislation being touted by Republicans and pro-gun lobbyists, Politico reported.
“This is a line in the sand on this issue, there’s no question about it,” Everytown President John Feinblatt told Politico. “We’re putting people on notice today that we’re watching … and that we expect to hold people accountable.”
Originally Feinblatt worked for Bloomberg when he was the mayor and was involved with almost every one of the many anti-gun programs his boss launched, including suing out-of-state firearms dealers and running bogus gun show operations in other states. He was with Bloomberg then and apparently is a key part of the billionaire’s investment. After all, when you have as many billions as Bloomberg, $25 million is a drop in the bucket.
Reciprocity — along with approved use of silencers for hunters — are reported to be the two big initiatives the NRA is poised to get passed with Republicans in control of Congress and the White House. Cleaning up some of Obama’s anti-gun dictates involving some veterans and Social Security recipients who require assistance with their financial affairs has already been accomplished.
