It wouldn’t be a SHOT Show without some new knives, and this year will see several companies trotting out brand new models.
There’s a new survival knife model from White River Knife & Tool (whiteriverknives.com) for 2017, made in the USA.
This knife has a 5-inch full-tang Micarta canvas green handle with orange liner, and it features an index finger groove. There’s a lanyard hole in the butt. The blade is made from S30V steel with a stonewash finish, and it is available in three blade lengths, 4, 5 and 7 inches.
The White River knife comes with a tough Kydex sheath that features a ferro fire starter rod.
Spyderco (Spyderco.com) lists some new models in its 2017 catalog that will be introduced during the year, some 50 in all. Among them are the New Police 4 model with a 4.4-inch plain edge blade and G-10 scales; the Delica 4, with G-10 scales and a stainless 2.9-inch blade; the native 5 Micro-melt Maxamet model featuring a 2.95-inch blade and molded FRN handle; the Para 3 with a 3-inch stainless flat ground blade and G-10 handle; the Manix 2 Micro-Melt Maxamet model with a 3.37-inch stainless blade and the Stretch 2 with a 3.45-inch VG-1o stainless blade and FRN handle.
There’s always something new from Browning (browning.com) and this year is no different. New hunting models include the Speed Load Ceramic and Speed Load Saw with a patent-pending quick change blade design. The Speed Load Ceramic folder has a 3-inch blade with liner lock, injection molded polymer handle and replaceable ceramic blade inserts. It has a steel pocket clip thumb stud and flapped nylon belt sheath.
The Speed Load Saw has a folding camp and big game saw with replaceable blades made from high carbon SK5 steel. The handle is black-gray injection molded polymer.
In the tactical lineup, there’s a Speed Load Tactical folding liner lock model with replaceable 420J2 stainless steel razor blade inserts. The handle is G-10 with anti-skid grooves.
Browning’s Wihongi Signature dagger has a fixed double-edged blade with hollow-ground edges. It has a handle featuring black G-10 scales.
There’s also a Wihongi Signature Series tomahawk with a 420 stainless blade and Kydex belt sheath.
As usual for the past 37 years, Lansky Sharpeners (lansky.com) will be unveiling several new knife care products at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas.
