‘Meltdown of the night’ by bitter MSNBC anchor

As various major US news networks prepared to confirm the Republican Donald Trump’s victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow gave a bitter response while live on air, perhaps confirming if there was ever much doubt her left-leaning worldview.

The somber host told her MSNBC viewers, as Trump edged towards victory: “You’re awake by the way.

“You’re not having a terrible, terrible dream. Also you’re not dead and you haven’t gone to hell.”

“This is your life now, this is our election now, this is us, this is our country – it’s real.”

Social media users attacked the television anchor for her moaning comments after it was clear Trump had won the key swing states of Florida, Ohio and North Carolina.

Almost immediately, MSNBC prime-time host was slammed by Twitter users for her dour and obvious slanted response to Trump’s win, and confirming what many Americans already believed about the media’s slant throughout the long presidential campaign.

One Twitter user wrote: “I’m sick of Rachel Maddow and all the MSNBC people acting like they’re so stunned that Donald Trump is winning. He stands for America.”

Another posted: “Meltdown of the night: Rachel Maddow is losing it as Trump wins Ohio, North Carolina and it’s hilarious.”

She was not the only television presenter singled out for criticism because of their coverage leaning towards Hillary Clinton.

BBC host Andrew Neil came under fire and was accused of being “biased” towards the Democratic candidate from viewers in the UK.

Furious viewers said it was “obvious” Neil was backing Clinton and demanded the BBC “not be a vehicle for its presenters to voice their own political views.”
