This year’s conference focuses on the theme ”Elect Liberty” and will host a Who’s Who of speakers in the gun right movement. Confirmed or invited speakers include National Rifle Association, President David Keene, Second Amendment Foundation President Joe Tartaro and SAF Founder and Vice President Alan Gottlieb who also chairs the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
Alan Gura, David Jensen, Don Kilmer, David Sigale and other legal scholars will discuss the legal theory about the cases that have been filed as a result of the U.S. v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago decisions. They will also review those cases recently decided such as Bateman v. Purdue and Woollard v. Sheridan.
An important part of the Gun Rights Policy conference is reflected in the choice of this year’s theme, “Elect Liberty.” Presidential, congressional as well as state and local elections will impact the course of legislation and litigation dramatically. There are many judges to be appointed on the Federal leveland perhaps to the U.S. Supreme Court in the next four years.
There will be a panel on international events to discuss the Arms Trade Treaty negotiations from people who will have attended the July 2012 sessions in New York. The August Programme of Action on Small Arms will also be explored.
Concealed carry specifically reciprocity will be on the agenda. There will also be discussions on blogging, Twitter, Facebook and the impact of social media on the public perception as well as other trends in firearms ownership and public opinion.
This year’s Gun Rights Policy Conference is shaping up to be one of the most important gatherings of pro-gun activists of the year. In addition to the addresses by high profile gun rights activists, the conference will include receptions, panel discussions, and the annual awards luncheon. Evening receptions on Friday and Saturday will provide opportunities for gun owners to network and discuss strategy for the upcoming legal, political and legislative battles.
